NATIONAL ALLIANCE OF JOURNALISTS (NAJ)

The National Alliance of Journalists (NAJ) is all set to have its plenary session in Hyderabad sometime in March 2020. Born in 2016 the registered body already has over 8000 members with its registered office in Hyderabad and its head office in New Delhi. Its first delegates’ session was held in New Delhi on 10th December 2017 at Andhra Bhavan. Journalists not so well versed with the conditions operating in the movement have valid reasons to ask why a National Alliance of Journalists? And we have a duty to explain the reasons for the formation of the new organization i.e., why a National Alliance of Journalists, when there are with so many unions. Our answer is obvious. We have been striving to form a National Alliance on a minimum programme of registered unions to fight on common issues instead of adding to the multiplicity of unions. Side by side we are also striving to have a common understanding with journalists willing to work with us on professional issues. In fact the idea was mooted during the struggle for the wage board when we tried to set up a national platform of journalists unions. The situation calls for unity and more unity with even press bodies and journalists professionals of the print, digital and broadcast media.
